This past Weekend

Friday night Elena and I went to see Shrek the Third with some friends, Meghann and Dante. It was pretty funny and much more realistic than Spiderman III. Though it still was not as good as the first two. You know I think I've just gotten sick of movies and television, and especially tired sequels.

Saturday I finally finished my Casenote Competition to try and get on the law review. Boy that sucked. I was finished with school for the summer but still had to read 10 cases (200 pages or so) and write a 6-10 page paper. Mine was 8 pages. Glad thats over.

Sunday I drove down to Maryland to see the apartment I am subletting for the month of June while I intern in DC. Its a really nice place and close to a lot of stuff. Thats good cause I don't want to ever move my car except to go home on the weekends. Meanwhile Elena went to a B-BQ at a co-workers house. Which meant I had to read the directions while driving. I hate doing that.

So yesterday I finally had a free day. It was the first in a long time. I took my car to get serviced at the Toyota dealership 40 minutes away only to be told I needed an appointment and they didn't have an opening until next Tuesday. I've never had that happen before. I rarely make appointments to get an oil change, but everything is more difficult in Pennsylvania. I think they should make that the new state motto. Then i went to the grocery store because we were out of just about everything. But then I did nothing...absolutely positively nothing. Well except the dishes and laundry and cooked dinner and walked the dogs. But besides that I did nothing.

The 9/11 Commisson Report

Okay, Rudy here it is from the 911 Commission Report: "Bin Laden's Appeal to the Islamic World" p.48.
"[Bin Laden] promises to restore pride to people who consider themsleves the victims of successive foreign masters...He also stresses grievances against the United States widely shared in the Muslim world. He inveighed against the presence of United States troops in Saudi Arabia, the home of Islam's holiest sites. He spoke of the suffering of the Iraqi people as a result of sanctions imposed after the Gulf War, and he protested U.S. support of Israel," (pp.48-49).
According to the Report American's have asked "Why do they hate us?" Al-Qaeda has answered saying "that America had attacked Islam; America is responsible for all conflicts involving Muslims," and "America is also held responsible for the governments of Muslim countries, derided by al Qaeda as 'your agents'," (p.51).
In other words, as Ron Paul said, they attacked us because we are over there. But Rudy has never heard that before. I think we need a president who has actually read the 9/11 Commission Report.

Why Hasn’t Rudy Giuliani Read the 9-11 Commission Report?

From the Ron Paul 2008 Campaign

May 16, 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEARLINGTON, VA –
During the "First in the South" GOP debate in South Carolina last night, one thing was made clear: Rudy Giuliani does not understand how to keep America safe. When Congressman Ron Paul, who has long served on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, explained how 50 years of American interventionism in the Middle East has helped compromise our national security, Giuliani interrupted saying he had "never heard anything so absurd." This statement is particularly troubling coming from the former mayor who tries to cast himself as a security expert, since Dr. Paul's point comes directly from the bi-partisan 9-11 Commission Report."Rudy Giuliani has tip-toed around the issues of abortion, guns and marriage. The only issue he has left is security, and he doesn't even get that right," said campaign chairman Kent Snyder. "It is clear from his interruption that former Mayor Giuliani has not read the 9-11 Commission Report and has no clue on how to keep America safe."

The Fox Debates

"In a time of universal deceit, speaking the truth is revolutionary" George Orwell

I hate Fox news, I really do, but I must admit their debates were done much better than MSNBC. Though I must note that the questioning was still unfairly tilted. Number of Questions and allowed Comments (by my count):

McCain: 8

Giuliani: 7

Romney: 7

Huckabee: 6

Tancredo: 5

Gilmore: 5

Hunter: 5

Brownback: 5

Thompson: 4

Paul: 4

Yeah it's "fair and balanced" to give McCain twice as many questions as Paul and Thompson.

But the highlight of the debate was when Ron Paul spoke truth to power saying:

Non-intervention was a major contributing factor [to 9/11]. Have you ever read the reasons they attacked us? They attack us because we've been over there; we've been bombing Iraq for 10 years. We've been in the Middle East -- I think Reagan was right. We don't understand the irrationality of Middle Eastern politics. So right now we're building an embassy in Iraq that's bigger than the Vatican. We're building 14 permanent bases. What would we say here if China was
doing this in our country or in the Gulf of Mexico? We would be objecting. We need to look at what we do from the perspective of what would happen if somebody else did it to us. (Applause.)

Benito Giuliani did not like this since, you know, he was the one that mismanaged the aftermath of 9/11. You can watch it here. he demanded Paul retract the truth and claim that the terrorists attacked us for our freedoms, which Paul refused to do and instead gave the audience a lesson in what the CIA terms "Blowback".

This not only destroyed any small chance Paul had at the nomination but most likely cost him his Congressional seat. But all anyone has to do is read the 9/11 Commission Report to see that Paul is right.

The greatest thing of all though is that Paul still came in 2nd place, 4 points below Mit "I have no principles" Romney in Fox's text messaging debate poll, and 6 points ahead of Benito Giuliani. At one point Paul was leading and it was fun to watch Sean "I Failed World History" Hannity swallow his bile when reporting that.

Paul also won the MSNBC poll by a landslide (again). But unfortunately the NeoCons have taken over the Republican Party so Paul will not get the nomination. Thats good news for Hillary and bad news for America.

Even when its over school never ends

So I'm working on a paper to try and get on the law review. Problem is I really don't want to do it and I really don't even care to be on the law review. I mean I have too much studying to do during the school year anyway...but it'll look good on the ole resume. I definately want to be able to get a job when I graduate.

Speaking of jobs...
I'm interning in DC this summer. I finally found a place to live. But it ain't cheap. luckily my apartment is only 2 hours from my house in Pennsylvania, so I'll be coming home on the weekends.

Speaking of DC...
I'm convinced Hillary will get the Democratic Nomination and Osama oops I mean Obama will be the running mate. That would be a good choice for the Dems because with the Republican field a clinto/ Obama ticket would be tough to beat. The Republicans are less clear. They all really suck except Ron Paul. But Hillary better hope Ron paul doesn't get the nomination because he would win in a landslide. Here's why: any republican will obviously get the republican vote and the anti-hillary vote (which is considerable), but Paul will also get the anti-war vote. He voted against going to war in Iraq, wants to get the troops out NOW, and is willing to take bombing Iran off the table. Hell even the Nation magazine will be forced to support him as they've said they'll only support anti-war candidates and he is more anti war than anyone other than Kucinich and Gravel. Even Obama has said he'll leave bombing Iran on the table. But, don't worry Jamie, there's no way Paul will get the nomination. The media is doing their damndest to make sure of that.

Speaking of the media bias against Paul...
Following the 1st round of Republican debates ABC had an online poll asking who won. The other nine candidates were listed but ABC did not list Paul until they recieved thousands of angry emails. Once they listed him he won in a landslide. Yahoo! has refused to list him as a candidate on their list of GOP candidates claiming he had not yet filed the paperwork. Actually he filed in March. McCain had not (at that time) but Yahoo! had him listed anyway. ABC posted an article claiming that Paul won all the post debate polls because there was one guy voting for him thousands of times. When hundreds of people commented on the article saying that was not ture, ABC deleted the posts.

Here's the problem...The media chooses the nominees, or at the very least narrows it down to a couple. Those one or two are always the exact same candidate. Seriously why is Romney, former governor of Mass on paper a better candidate than Gilmore, former Gov. of VA or Huckabee, former Gov. of Arkansas? Yet Romney gets media attention and the others do not. If the media started talking about any of the "2nd tier" candidates (and quit referring to them as 2nd tier) as much as the "first tier" candidates, those candidates would quickly become first tier. NBC conducts polls asking: "who is your choice for the GOP? Romney, McCain, or Giuliani? What about the other 7? Hell Newt and Fred Thompson, who haven't even announced yet, get more air time than the other 7 "2nd tier" candidates. OK enough ranting about that...

Speaking of ranting...
Law school never lests you rest for a second. The school year is over and i'm still writing papers. AAAGGG! What was I thinking? I mean seriously, a 10 page paper based on 200 pages of cases, after the school year has ended?

Speaking of law school papers...

Finally back up and Running

Wow I had a really hard time getting this new transition to Google. I was suppossed to simply enter my old username and password and they'd give me a Google one...but that turned out to be more difficult than it should have been. Finally I got it to work (weeks later) and can now post again (Yay!) Since school is over I might even post on a regular basis now. That Google, what a pain. Do they have to own everything?

Speaking of Google...
according to former CIA clandestine agent Robert Steel, the CIA helped fund Google when it was first begining and those two kids who created it in their dorm room (or whatever) were falling short on capital. That explains a lot doesn't it?

Speaking of big brother in the tech savvy world...
Check out this CNBC video Big Brother Big Business. It's scary as hell. Its about how corporations (like Google) monitor you, keep your records, etc.

Speaking of scary as hell...
$500 million was spent on Spider-Man 3. Seriously?! The story didn't start until about 1hr 45 minutes into the moive, the SFX were cheasy and cartoon like, the characters were undeveloped, and snaggle tooth was her typical ugly boring self as mary jane. What a crap movie and a complete waste of $9 for a ticket. The fact that the studios spent enough money to get Hillary elected to President freaks me out a bit.

Speaking of the 2008 Race...
The Republican debates sure were fair and balanced (insert sarcastic voice). I think Chris Mathews has a crush on John "nuke 'em" McCain. Ron Paul did a great job and won the online poll following the debate. But of course the so-called political pundits have completely ignored him, even saying that all 10 Republicans were for the war and are for staying the course. Ron Paul voted against the war and is for getting the troops home now. Typical lies from the media.

Speaking of the media...
I'm getting a little tired of reading about Paris hilton going to jail. I mean seriously who cares. I have more important things to worry about...like writing my paper for the casenote competition to get on the school journal.

Speaking of school...
The ovester finally ended. We had a cook out to celebrate and about 25 people showed up (yeah thats a lot bigger than my getting out of the marines party where only Mike, Jamie and Tim made it). I bought a new gas grill and everything. Elena got a little tipsy. Heehee. She was cute though. Anyway I'm glad the 1st year is over. It's been a tough year. But not quite as tough as transitioning from blogspot to Google.

Speaking of Google...

Spring Break is over

Damn! I miss spring break already. I mainly studied (fun fun), but Elena and I did go to King of prussia mall in Philly. It is the BIGGEST mall i've ever been in. It has 2 Gaps to Ann Taylors and 2 Sun Glass Huts. I mean seriously people. I was exhausted but got some new jeans and Elena got lots of clothes, many she needed for work, and others cause she just looked sexy in 'em.

I'm getting really tired of Constitutional Law. thats disappointing because I was really looking forward to it. But my professor sucks. He's the worst professor I've had in law school. He's more concerned with showing us how smart he is than teaching us the Constitution. Yes we know you went to Penn and you're the greatest, jack-ass now please learn how to teach. The good news is he is only a visiting professor so hopefully he will be on his way soon enough.

My Property professor is awesome. He and my Tort's professor from last ovester are my favorites so far. Though Crim Law was cool too. he prosecuted Milosevic at the ICC at The Hage. Cool huh?

Well back to work.
